The Erotic Mind of BEAU — Podcast #121 — 05/11/09

Hey sex fans,

Today I have the distinct pleasure of introducing you to an artist, a legend and an icon.  My guest is the one and only BEAU!  Before there was the proliferation of talented gay artists we enjoy today, there were a handful of pioneers who challenged convention 5182fxh9bhl_ss400_and broke new ground with their lusty homoerotic images. Beau is one of those pioneers.

Today’s show is the latest installment in this series of interviews called The Erotic Mind.  These conversations with noted erotic artists, like BEAU, help us understand something of the creative process involved in this specialized art form.

Be sure to check out BEAU’s beautiful and seminal artwork and see why he is responsible for launching an entire genre gay male erotica.  You can find his work HERE or on his publisher’s site HERE.

BEAU and I discuss:

  • When, how and why his alter ego — Beau.
  • Being an erotic painter, not an erotic illustrator.
  • The terrible accident that ended Beau’s painting career.
  • His models and how he worked with them.
  • Putting his soul and breathing life into his work.
  • His turn to photography.
  • The life of an artist.

The Erotic Mind of Jesse Fox — Podcast #117 — 04/27/09

Hey sex fans,jfox

I have a really swell show in store for you today.   My guest is an award-winning erotic author who represents a very popular strain in erotic fiction.  Her work is rooted in the romance tradition and it represents a departure from the more hardcore erotic fiction penned by of some of my other guests.  I am so pleased to welcome Jesse Fox.  And in doing so I also introduce you to a mighty-mite of and online publisher, Dark Roast Press.

In my quest to bring you diverse perspectives on The Erotic Mind, I’ve been chatting with erotic artists of every stripe from all over the world.  Our aim, as you know, is to uncover something of the creative process involved with this specialized art form.

To that end Jesse represents the fascinating world of Slash.  Don’t know “slash-fic” from a hole in your head?  Well, neither did I.  At least not until the renowned author, James Lear introduced me to the topic back in February.  (Be sure to check out Part 1 and Part 2 of my conversation with James HERE and HERE.)

  • Her nom de plume.
  • Her writing career and how it began.
  • Fan-fic, Funny-fic, and Slash-fic.
  • The birth of Dark Roast Press.
  • Writing erotic fiction that comes out of the Romance genre.

Jesse will also treat us to very delectable selection from the fruit of her Erotic Mind.

The Erotic Mind of Dale Lazarov — Podcast #115 — 04/20/09

Hey sex fans,

Today, I have yet another installment in my series of interviews called The Erotic Mind.  My guest is Dale Lazarov.  He chats with us in conjunction with his upcoming appearance at the internationally renowned Seattle Erotic Art’s Festival.

seaf_web_header_650x200

Dale is an erotic author and editor who works with an array of very talented graphic artists.  Together they produce an acclaimed line of gay oriented sexually explicit comics. Their collaborations, published by the distinguished German publisher, Bruno Gmuender, result in a celebration of joyful and playful lust. In fact, the comics are so well done; they convey their storyline without using any words.  No mean feat that, I can tell ya!
